About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Production Manager to oversee and drive the efficiency, quality, and creativity of our ceramics production. This pivotal role will coordinate a talented studio team and ensure smooth operations across throwing, glazing, firing, and product development.

As Production Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering to stock targets and custom orders, supporting continuous improvement in workflow systems, and nurturing a safe, creative, and high-performing studio environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • 🗓 Plan & Manage: Create weekly production schedules aligned with marketing calendars and inventory targets.

  • 🎨 Lead the Studio: Manage daily operations, team workflow, and throw products in line with production needs.

  • 🔧 Hands-on Involvement: Operate Jigger & Jolly, assist with glazing, loading/unloading kilns, and equipment upkeep.

  • 🔥 Kiln Maintenance: Oversee regular kiln firings and maintenance routines to meet firing schedules.

  • 💡 Innovation & Product Development: Collaborate on new product development and refine production systems.

  • 📦 Materials Oversight: Monitor studio material levels and coordinate timely reordering.

  • 🧼 Safety & Standards: Champion health and safety practices, workspace organisation, and SOP compliance.

  • 📈 Team Development: Design and deliver individual training plans, skills assessments, and ongoing development for your team.


What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in a ceramic production environment or manufacturing leadership role

  • Strong hands-on pottery skills, including throwing, glazing, and kiln operations

  • Confidence operating production tools like Jigger & Jolly

  • Excellent team leadership, scheduling, and workflow management capabilities

  • A proactive mindset for system improvement and team development

  • Understanding of WHS practices in a studio or manufacturing setting

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Passion for sustainability, creativity, and craftsmanship
