Why It Matters

Plastic pollution is one of the biggest threats facing our oceans today. Every year:

Over 145,000 tonnes of plastic leak into Australia’s environment every year.

Plastic pollution kills an estimated one million seabirds and 100,000 sea mammals each year.

Humans may ingest up to 5 grams of plastic a week - the equivalent of eating a credit card.

Frequently Asked Questions

4ocean is a mission-driven company working to end the ocean plastic crisis (a mission we share!). Since 2017, their full-time captains and crews have been cleaning oceans, rivers, and coastlines around the world - removing millions of pounds of plastic and other debris.

They are a Certified B Corp and Public Benefit Corporation, which means they balance profit with purpose and meet high standards of social and environmental accountability.

In addition to their for-profit cleanups funded by product sales and partnerships, the independent 4ocean Foundation supports the mission through education and philanthropy. Together, these efforts have removed more than 20 million kilos of rubbish from the ocean to date.

Every Pottery for the Planet order funds the rubbish removal equivalent of 1 plastic bottle from marine environments by 4ocean’s full-time cleanup crews.

At checkout, you can also opt to pull extra bottles to increase your impact.

All cleanups are tracked through 4ocean’s TrashTracker system and verified by third-party auditors like GreenCircle Certified, SeaTrees (Ocean Positive Verification), and B Lab (Certified B Corp).

This ensures every bottle pulled is transparent, measurable, and real.

  • Recyclables (PET, HDPE, LDPE, PP): Washed, sorted, and turned into raw materials or up-cycled into new products.

  • Non-recyclables: Converted into energy by certified facilities or responsibly landfilled when no other option exists.

Every purchase generates a unique Impact ID. You’ll receive it by email, allowing you to see the who, what, where, and when of your plastic pulled - often with cleanup photos.
