Article: International Women's Day with our Vietnam studio partners

International Women's Day with our Vietnam studio partners

This year, we’ve been championing International Women's Day by introducing you to the women on our team over on Instagram (meet them here). We’re proud to be able to say there's a woman’s touch in every aspect of our business, from production to marketing!

So far, you’ve met our Australian and New Zealand gals - but to conclude the celebration series we wanted to end with something especially close to our hearts.

We’d like to introduce you to the Toan family.

The Toans run a small, family-owned and operated ceramic studio in Vietnam. They’ve been working with the Bishoprics since 2003 after Renton's mum and dad came across the ceramics village where they live in their travels. The pair developed a relationship with the Toans over the course of the next five years, supporting them in developing and exporting their ceramic wares. This is a legacy Renton has kept alive through Pottery For The Planet’s ongoing business relationship and friendship with the Toans.

Mrs Toan (who lays claim to the impressive title of Vietnam's first female exporter of ceramics) heads a largely female management and production team with her female Operations Manager, Ngoc, at her side. Her efforts support the financial and life goals of her team, and provide these women with rare career and skill development opportunities.

To celebrate these pioneering efforts for equity and inclusivity, we’re releasing a new addition to the Travel Cup Family.

The Secret Garden Travel Cup.

Made from start to finish in Mrs Toan’s studio and featuring elegant hand-painted florals by talented designer and artist Thang, each cup is an expression of amazing craftswoman-ship.
