Our handmade coffee mugs are designed and crafted locally in our Noosa and Margaret River studios, with a small selection of glazes handcrafted by our small family studio partners in Vietnam. The coloured glazes are inspired by Australian landscapes and coastlines, paying homage to earthy ochres and beachy blues. Each is a celebration of craftsman/womanship, the natural world, and, of course, your favourite beverage.
The hug mug is a handful of pure comfort, with its rounded belly designed to fit snugly in palms. Let your morning (or evening, we don't judge!) coffee or tea warm the clay as you sip slowly from one of three sizes (8oz, 12oz, or 16oz). These ceramic mugs are also ideal for filling with aesthetic iced lattes and other insta-worthy cold drinks.
Each ceramic coffee mug is one of a kind, so while you will receive a mug similar to those pictured, no two are the same. We believe the slight variations in size, colour, and markings are what make them unique and will turn your Pottery For the Planet purchase into your new favourite mug.
Each mug is made with ceramic and must be handled with care. We high-fire all our mugs for added durability, but all pottery will crack if knocked or dropped.
We value each piece being handmade over complete uniformity and as such there are always slight variations. This means your mug is unique and that the below specifications are approximate.
Small- height 8-9 cm, volume 230ml, weight - 190-230g
Medium - height 9-10 cm, volume 360ml, weight - 230-270g
Large - height 11-12 cm, volume 480ml, weight - 270- 310g

I always seems to want more coffee when I drink out of any other mug. I think the amount of coffee I fit in this cup is a perfect amount. I want to give one to all my friends ❤️
The colours and patterns absolutely did not disappoint and are gorgeous. The large size fits beautifully into the coffee machine. This size mug fits perfectly in my hand and feels so nice to hold. I love my mugs!
Very happy
Loved it.. is amazing to drink out of.. made perfectly… thank you
I bought two Belly Mugs and agree that not only do they look beautiful, they are a joy to hold and pleasing to drink from. I went back and bought a matching travel bowl which I display when not needed. It’s used so often it’s not displayed much,
I do have a question about them, however. Are these pottery products lead and cadmium free. I assumed so as you are caring for the planet and that includes us. Can you confirm. Many thanks
Kim
Hello Kim,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing our Belly Mugs and Travel Bowl for your home. Your endorsement of their design and functionality truly warms our hearts. We're overjoyed to know they bring you joy—a feeling we aim to infuse into each of our handmade pieces.
Regarding your important question about the safety of our products, we're proud to confirm that ALL of our pottery products are indeed free of lead and cadmium. Our commitment to the planet encompasses every aspect of our business, including the well-being of our customers.
These materials were phased out of use by most Australian potters in the 1970s, when a heightened awareness surrounding glaze/ chemical 'leaching' came about.
When crafting our pottery, we mix glazes from raw materials and create our own recipes, which means we're fully aware of—and control—what goes into our products. There are no secrets; just pure, honest craftsmanship.
So rest assured, you can enjoy your favourite drinks and display your pieces with the peace of mind that not only are you supporting sustainable art, but you're also using products that are safe for you and your loved ones.
Once again, thank you for bringing this to our attention, because it allows us to reassure not only you but all our customers about the integrity and safety of our products. If you have any more questions or there's anything else we can assist you with, please don't hesitate to reach out.
