The Shino-Yaki cup is produced by our very own Potters Stephen Roberts and Rob Natoil.


The name Shino-Yaki is a Japanese term for a particular style born in the 16th century during the Golden Age of Japanese pottery. Shino ware was widely sought after for its humble aesthetic and suited the wabi-sabi style of the Zen Buddhist tea masters.


Shino glazes can be a combination of thick snow-white to red scorch marks and each Shino Yaki Travel Cup varies in these characteristics - not one is ever the same. Each cup honouring and resembling the ancient techniques of pottery.


Stevie first used Shino glaze when working for Ian Reid at Flaxton Gardens Pottery and continued to learn about Shino Yaki with a friend and mentor Rowley Drysdale. He had the privilege of seeing some of the original Shino pottery in Japan.


This beautiful, ceramic keep cup takes us back to a time in history before plastic, where art was shaped from the Earth.

Cream 100% silicone lid

All cups are handmade and one of a kind. You will receive a cup similar to the cups pictured but there are no two the same. Variations in size, colour and markings is what makes them unique!    
Pottery For The Planet Cups are made of ceramic and must be handled with care. Ceramic will crack if knocked or dropped.

Specifications are approximate because although we do our best to keep things uniform being handmade you can expect variations in size, weight, shape, texture, pattern and volume. Pottery For The Planet Cups are designed to fit into most cup holders in cars and prams.

Dimensions:
4oz Piccolo Cup - height 8-9cm,  width 6.5-7.5cm, volume - 120ml, weight 160-180g
6oz  - height 8 - 9cm,  width 7.5-8.5cm, volume - 180ml, weight 180-220g
8oz  - height 10 -11cm,  width 8.5-9.5cm, volume - 240ml, weight - 220-260g
12oz  - height 12 - 13cm,  width 8.5-9.5cm, volume - 350ml, weight - 260- 320g
NOTE - specifications are approximate. Height includes the lid.

Great product and delivered expeditiously, also such a great idea sent the item in used packaging. Maybe should consider the option of getting the customer to pay to return the packaging for reuse, like a prepaid service. Anyway great product, highly recommend!!

The perfect travel cup

Never leave home without one!

Decided to go a bit more green with my stuff and I have been looking into a pottery travel cup. Got the 8oz Forest Moss + heat band, I take it everyday for work with me. The cup is perfect size for my preferred volume of coffee or tea (pictured here). Make sure you purchase a heatband as the cup may get too warm initially, but after a good couple of minutes it’s all good! It retains the content’s warm temperature for the next 20 minutes or so which is perfecr (probably could retain a bit longer but my drink’s already finished by then!).
I drive for work and travel on weekends, it’s a perfect companion for your drives!
